La Manga Club Golf Course

There are countless golf courses in and around La Manga Del Mar Menor. Just a few minutes drive from the end of the strip, La Manga Club has been voted Europe's top resort for golfing holidays three times in the last five years.

There are three 18 hole championship courses at La Manga Club, and also a Par 47 18 hole pitch and putt course.

Go-Karting at La Manga Del Mar Menor

Young or old there's something here to thrill everyone! Just off the La Manga Strip is a thrilling Go-kart track. For the really young (about 4 years old) there is a "dual car", mum or dad can take the main steering wheel whilst junior has his very own steering wheel also!

Parent can take over at any point but junior gets the thrill of "steering" as well. An instant hit! For the 8 year old and above there is a choice of 2 cars a slow one for beginners and a slightly faster one for the more experienced. Another "beaming smile" maker!

La Manga Club Tennis

Featured at the heart of La Manga Club is one of the most highly regarded tennis centres in Europe. Venue of Davis and Federation Cup matches, it offers 28 tennis courts, 20 clay, 4 hard (green set) and 4 artificial grass and most are floodlit.

The Tennis Centre, now the established 'Official Winter Training Base' for the Lawn Tennis Association, has a host of top facilities available including 28 multi surface tennis courts, extensive gym and health club, swimming pool and pro shop.

Fishing at La Manga Del Mar Menor

Just about anywhere on the La Manga Del Mar Menor strip can be fished from. The more serious fishermen hire boats at the Tomas Maestre Marina whilst many can be seen fishing around harbour points where there are many fish.

I personally have had 12 fish on the hook one after the other so it must be a good area to fish! Sardines are the main catch particularly in the Mar Menor and Mullet are easily caught in harbour areas.

La Manga Del Mar Menor Beaches

With more than 300 days of sunshine a year, swimmers and sun worshippers will find plenty of locations to swim at in La Manga Del Mar Menor, or just lie by the local pool!

There are numerous beaches in La Manga Del Mar Menor, on both Mediterranean and Mar Menor coasts. The Mar Menor beaches are particularly popular with families with young children, because the warm, shallow water offers bathing fun for all ages.

Mar Menor, or Little Sea, is a unique area running the entire left side of the strip. The huge saltwater lake is the largest in Europe, separated from the Mediterranean by glorious white beaches and the vibrant resort of La Manga Del Mar Menor. As well as its natural importance, Mar Menor's waters are known for their healing properties, and it is still a place of recreation and relaxation.

Eating Out In La Manga Del Mar Menor

As you can imagine, the La Manga Del Mar Menor area caters for all style of eating out from discreet restaurants on the strip to a multitude of eateries catering for all tastes at the Tomas Maestre Marina.

The Tomas Maestre Marina area (a 15 minute walk away) is particlulary pleasant to go to on a nice warm night where you can eat inside or outside at a leisurely pace watching the world go by and afterwards head to the cocktail bars in the area.

The Tomas Mastre Marina is a lovely discreet place to eat whether for a romantic meal for two or a family meal you are sure to find something to please here! There is a very good Italian restaurant and a Belgian Creperie with fantastic views of the sunset across the Mar Menor.

Other restaurants include a Mexican, Asian, traditional Spanish restaurants and restaurants specialising in barbeques. The typically Mediterranean style of cooking is available in local restaurants, this includes paellas, fresh fish, freshly grilled meats and succulent salads, normally using locally grown produce. Fish and shellfish fresh from the sea are prepared on hotplates, or as ingredients in the locally famous Caidero, a typical rice dish. Fresh fruit and vegetables from the fields of Cartagena are abundant. Salted fish are still cooked following techniques from the Roman era.

La Manga Mar Menor Boat Trips

The foot ferry provides a regular service from the Tomas Mastre Marina across the Mar Menor to the town of Santiago de la Ribera. The trip across the Mar Menor lake is very pleasant and takes half an hour.

A market is held on Wednesdays and the Spanish equivalent of the Red Arrows practices here, so you will often see an impressive air display.

There are excellent sandy beaches at Santiago and some interesting shops. It is relaxing to sit at one of the cafes on the front just watching the world go by or to have lunch in one of the fish restaurants on the beach.
